    TRANSACTIONS:

Q: When is "EVENT A" going to happen?

A: Cameron sends out emails detailing the schedule when he knows it. Asking about events -- especially during the offseason -- delays events, as it annoys him and makes him think that a little more time away is needed.

Q: We are only allowed to send 1 roster move email per sim? So this email has to contain all our rosters moves, any trades that we made during this time and any releases or free agent claims?

A: Yes. ALL transactions (trades, roster moves, releases and free agent claims) must be consolidated in one email. Cameron deletes all transaction emails from an owner after the first. Having to go through so many emails delays sims and eats up more of Cameron's life.

Q: If I make a trade and send it in, then make another trade the next day, I have to wait until the next sim period to send it in?

A: Yes. See above answer for reasoning. To be more efficient, keep track of all your trades in between sims on a text file or in a saved email draft. Click send a few hours before deadline.

Q: Do both teams involved in a trade have to submit confirmations for the trade to go through?

A: Trades are not official until both parties send the trade to the commissioner(s) (this should be obvious, but this means that both teams need to send the details of the trade, including players received and given, to the commissioners).

    Q: Who approves trades?

A: According to the UBL Constitution, "The League Presidents and commissioner have the final say on trade matters."

Q: What is the format in which you would like trade confirmations submitted?

A: Trade confirmations should be in this EXACT format and should IMMEDIATELY be followed by roster moves in the same email to accomodate new players coming in:

    Team A trades:
    CF Joe Shmoe

    to Team B for:
    2008 1st round draft pick (Team C)
    C Cameron Akers

Q: What format would you like me to submit roster moves and lineups?

    A:
Moving P Ben Malone to AAA, C Brian Miller to active. Send down P Steve McCoyne, replace with 1B Steve Webb on active roster.

Q: How is priority given for free agent signings if more than one team tries to sign a player?

A: Free agents may be signed on a first come, first served basis. If two teams submit claims for the same player during the same simulation period, the computer will select which team wins the claim (generally team with worst record that season). Cameron inputs ALL claims at the same time and lets the computer run the priority. REMEMBER: Roster moves MUST be sent in to accomodate free agent claims. If you claim a free agent and there's no space on your roster, a random player will be dropped into waivers.

Q: If a player is not successfully claimed, will the corresponding roster moves for that claim be processed?

A: Cameron will process all roster moves sent in as fully as possible. EXAMPLE: Team A trades one player to Team B for two players. Team B forgets to confirm trade with an email. Team A sent in a roster move to drop one of the players he received from Team B to make space for a free agent signing. Cameron CANNOT drop that player for Team A because Team B has never confirmed and the trade was never consummated.

Q: Can I send you an html formatted email or does it have to be plain text?

A: It HAS to be plain text, or else the moves won't get put in. Cameron shall print out a copy of an html mail, burn it, scatter the ashes and salt the ground where they land.... then delete the original.

    Q: How do I go to a four-man rotation if I'm using a five-man?

A: On the /first/ day of the next sim, your #2 or #3 pitcher has to be starting. You cannot do it if your 1,4 or 5 pitcher is starting. You can switch to a five-man from a four-man at any time. The reverse is not true.

Q: How many can you call up from the minors during September callups and when I send an e-mail to do so, is it the same as any roster move "Promote XXX player from AAA?"

A: There is a 40-man active roster in September. Roster moves should be worded the same as normal roster moves. Your active roster reverts back to 25 players for playoffs.

    OFFSEASON AND SPRING TRAINING

Q: Who do I contact to ask permission to move to another city, stadium, playing surface or change my team name?

A: From the UBL Constitution, Section XI, Article A:

"If a new owner wants to change their city, (it) must be approved by the League President FIRST then sent to the Commissioner for approval"

Q: How often can we change stadiums, cities, playing surface or team name?

A: From the UBL Constitution, Section XI in its entirety:

IX. Movement: Policies on team movement changed during the 2007 season. What follows are the guidelines for stadium and city movement as per those changes.

    Stadium: 7 years.
Can change before then (AFTER 5 YEARS), but it costs a first-round draft
pick. (if they have traded the pick, they can't move)
    City: 15 years.
Can change after 10-- costs a 2nd and 3rd round pick (no first-rounder)
Can change after 7--costs a first round pick

New owners, of course, can change their stadium at the beginning of their first full season.
If a new owner wants to change their city:
    A) Must be approved by the League President FIRST then sent to the Commissioner for approval
    B) Must have a reason to do it. "I don't like the altitude of my city" Isn't a good enough reason.
should they come up with a "story"-esque reason, then that's damn near instant approval on my part. Hell, if y'all use your imaginations that's wonderful.
    C) Must be at the start of a new season. No mid-season changes.

    AMATEUR DRAFT

Q: What format would you like my draft list in?

A: Your draft list should list players by position, first name and last name. Anything less will be discarded. Don't waste draft time by forcing Cameron to guess what you meant by "Smith" or "P Jones" when there might be three pitchers named "Jones" in the pool.

Your draft list should contain a number of players equal to the the number of the last overall pick your team has. I.E. Team A has the #5 1st round and #5 2nd round picks. Team A needs to have 33 players on his list because there are 28 picks per round. A 28-player list covers his 1st round, plus five more players listed to cover his 2nd round.

Q: If I attend a live draft and get booted from the chat room, do I lose my pick?

A: You don't immediately lose your pick. In most cases, the draft room will wait and give you ample opportunity to try and contact the Commissioner or another owner to inform them of your technical difficulties. Email and AOL Instant Messenger are good communication alternatives to have at hand should you get booted from the chat room. Be forewarned... the other owners won't wait on your pick forever and may vote to skip you. Don't dilly-dally after you've been booted. Contact someone IMMEDIATELY!

Q: What/When is the trade moratorium during Ammy Draft Week? Specifically, can we make trades after the new draft pool comes out?

A: No. As soon as the draft pool is released, no trades will be processed until AFTER the draft is completed.

Q: Is there any other way I can lose my draft picks?

A: Yes. Not sending in a draft list, choosing to skip a draft and/or changing stadiums or cities before the required waiting period has passed.

    PLAYER RATINGS

Q: Does a player have to have a qualified position checked to allow an owner to play him at that position?

A: The game adds checks to qualified positions after so many games are played at that position. We are not sure how many games are required to gain a qualified position. A player will still be able to play at an unqualified position at the actual FA rating for that position.

Q: If not, will that player's FA rating grow from playing an unqualified position?

A: No checks = no growth. A player must be qualified at a position in order to increase his FA rating during spring training.

    MISCELLANEOUS

Q: Is it true that Randy and Steve get so drunk when their teams play they can't remember who won the games?

A: Yes. Tim and Baggs too.

Q: Are there any strange owners in the UBL? Gay owners? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

A: The question should be "Are there any NORMAL owners in the UBL?" We are all naturally happy.
