Emile Yelder
Starting Pitcher | Seattle Devils

Pitching
Yelder also has a solid changeup that he'll use at any point in the count. Yelder can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. The running movement on his pitches makes life tougher on lefties than righties.

Defense & Hitting
He fields both bunts and slow groundballs in front of the plate equally well. Yelder doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. Yelder is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Yelder has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Seattle Devils have been known to use Yelder as a pinch-runner on occasion.

2014 Outlook
If Yelder doesn't perform, the Seattle Devils won't hesitate to send him down to the minors. I just don't know if The Seattle Devils are ever going to get what they expect out of him.

Emile Yelder
Starting Pitcher | Free Agents

Pitching
His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! If you're going in to face Yelder, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. He traditionally fares better against lefties.

Defense & Hitting
He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Yelder does a very poor job of holding baserunners because of his deliberate move to home plate. Yelder is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Yelder has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Free Agents have been known to use Yelder as a pinch-runner on occasion.

2014 Outlook
But if you ask me, I'll pass on Yelder.
