Rich Yeabsley
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He keeps his pitches low in the strike zone and throws a heavy ball. Yeabsley can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Yeabsley also has a decent changeup. His pitches lose some movement when he pitches from the stretch position. Yeabsley also throws a screwball. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Yeabsley's curveball tends to hang. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept lefthanders in check but wasn't as effective against righties.
Defense & Hitting Yeabsley's move to first base is average. Yeabsley is agile on the mound, though he makes needless errors when his concentration wanders. Yeabsley is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Yeabsley has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Yeabsley as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
