Hitting
Thatcher never has been a patient hitter. In past seasons, Thatcher has been a bit of a liability with men on base. Even though you might not start him, he's not a bad guy to have on your bench for the tough left-handed reliever.

Baserunning & Defense
His defense is solid but unspectacular. Wally's arm leaves a little to be a desired. Thatcher doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often.
