Tom Silvestri
Catcher | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. The book on Silvestri is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Let's face facts: Silvestri hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
Silvestri's range at catcher isn't exceptional, but he has very soft hands and a strong, accurate arm. He's very dependable. Silvestri isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases.
