Normie Quain
Starting Pitcher | Paris Isotopes
Pitching He's unflappable on the mound, possessing the confidence to throw any of his offerings at any time in the count. He's a finesse pitcher, relying on movement and location. His slider is sharp and breaks both horizontally and vertically. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. Quain also has a decent changeup. He generates few groundballs, though he generally keeps the ball in the park. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Runners do not get a good jump on Quain... many have noted that his motion is difficult to pick up. Quain is nothing special in the field.
2014 Outlook Quain has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Paris Isotopes to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up. I really like what this guy brings to the table.
