Pitching
Phelan performs extremely well in the late innings, but unfortunately his endurance prevents him from getting there very often. Phelan can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Because he can't overpower hitters, Phelan has to fool them instead. But Phelan, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.

Defense & Hitting
Basestealers are unusually successful against Phelan, whose run-stopping fundamentals are otherwise strong. Perhaps it is a result of his increased reliance on offspeed pitches. Phelan is nothing special in the field.
