Hitting
In past seasons, Patterson has been a bit of a liability with men on base. The book on Patterson is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Patterson always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
His arm and range are average, and he has a tendency to get lazy with his feet. Patterson has below-average speed and is a poor baserunner.
