Jermaine Ong
Starting Pitcher | Detroit Polar Bears

Pitching
Ong is a control pitcher; when he's on he has pinpoint control. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. His changeup isn't bad... he fools his share of hitters. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.

Defense & Hitting
He's reasonably quick to the plate but needs to vary his pickoff moves. Good baserunners appeared to time him last year. Ong is nothing special in the field. Ong is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ong has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Detroit Polar Bears have been known to use Ong as a pinch-runner on occasion.
