Dan Meier
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Meier can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Meier also has a decent changeup. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting His move to first isn't very good, but his delivery is fairly quick and he isn't overly vulnerable to the stolen base. He hurts himself by falling awkwardly off the mound in his follow-through, which allows too many balls to go through the middle for base hits. Meier is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Meier has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Meier as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
