Keeyon Maxwell
Starting Pitcher | Morocco Mayhem
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. Maxwell has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. His fastball is just average, and therefore he relies heavily on placing it in different parts of the strike zone or setting it up with his sinker. Maxwell also has a decent changeup. His composure needs work. When Maxwell starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. He comes right after righthanded hitters, who are lucky even to reach base against him, but he works more carefully to lefties.
Defense & Hitting Maxwell's move to first base is average. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position.
2014 Outlook Maxwell has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Morocco Mayhem to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up. I really like what this kid brings to the table.
