Hitting
He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. Lopez never has been a patient hitter. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. He rarely pulls pitches, preferring to shoot line drives to left-center.

Baserunning & Defense
Lopez isn't a fluid shortstop, but he's not afraid to get dirty and gets the job done. His arm is accurate enough. Lopez doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a few bases each season without getting caught very often.
