The book on Leonard is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. But Jack's detracters are quick to call attention to his ongoing struggles at the plate with men on base. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Jack Leonard to pull the ball.

Leonard doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often. When you play Leonard you're not putting him in for his glove. Runners take advantage of his weak arm.
