Red Kahl
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Kahl has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. Kahl also has a decent changeup. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. If you're going in to face Kahl, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Kahl, and that's saying a lot. He comes right after righthanded hitters, who are lucky even to reach base against him, but he works more carefully to lefties.
Defense & Hitting His slow delivery makes him fairly easy to steal upon, but Kahl helps himself by holding runners with throws to first, and with slide steps and varied deliveries to home. He's slow to get off the mound to field his position, especially to the third-base side. Kahl is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Kahl has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Kahl as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Kahl.
