Hitting
The book on Hurst is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Hurst always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. The Free Agents do tend to sit Hurst when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball.

Baserunning & Defense
His defense is solid but unspectacular. Tom's arm leaves a little to be a desired. Hurst doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often.
