Hitting
Hillegas seems to become especially focused in big situations. Hillegas never has been a patient hitter. The Detroit Polar Bears do tend to sit Hillegas when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball.

Baserunning & Defense
His arm and range are average, and he has a tendency to get lazy with his feet. Hillegas doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often.
