The book on Heptinstall is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Heptinstall always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. The Retired or Inactive Players do tend to sit Heptinstall when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball.

Baserunning & Defense
When you play Heptinstall you're not putting him in for his glove. His arm is accurate enough. He has below-average speed and is stiff on the basepath. He's poor on a straight steal but has some success at reading pitchers and working a delayed steal.

2014 Outlook
One has to wonder what Ritchi Heptinstall is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors.
