Hitting
The book on Gonser is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. I tell you, it's a real trip to watch this kid play. He gives 110% all the time... unfortunately that means he tends to run out of gas as the game wears on. With his slap-hitting approach, Gonser always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Deverick Gonser to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. Runners take advantage of his weak arm. He has no speed at all and runs the bases conservatively.
