Frank Distel
First Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting He has a very quick bat and can adjust to a pitch's movement as well as any hitter in the game. Let's face facts: Distel hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He is easy prey for any righthander who can throw a slider off the outside corner. Distel handles lefthanders who bring the ball into his quick hands much better. He likes to pull the ball, but don't be surprised if he puts the ball the opposite field from time to time. He's a smart batter and takes good note of how the fielders are shading him.
Baserunning & Defense He might not deliver for you at the plate, but Distel can certainly deliver in the field. He is an exceptional fielder. His arm is accurate enough. Distel isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases.
