Quin Dehass
Starting Pitcher | Toronto Dragons
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. Dehass also has a solid changeup that he'll use at any point in the count. He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. Dehass has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. Dehass's fastball is a tick above average, in the 90-91 MPH range on most nights. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept righthanders in check but wasn't as effective against lefties.
Defense & Hitting Dehass uses a slide step to keep runners close. He gobbles up comebackers, sometimes roaming far from the mound to get a glove on a ball. Dehass is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Dehass has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Toronto Dragons have been known to use Dehass as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook I really like what this kid brings to the table.
