Johnnie Davis
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! Never a hard thrower, Davis now has games when he can't hit 85 MPH with his fastball. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He never has controlled the running game. Davis has been regarded as a poor fielder throughout his career, and last year was no different. Davis is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Davis has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Davis as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Davis.
