Jerry Clarke
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching A groundball pitcher, Clarke needs to have sharp command to succeed. Clarke can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Clarke also has a decent changeup. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Clarke's curveball tends to hang. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Clarke's move to first base is average. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Clarke is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Clarke has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Clarke as a pinch-runner on occasion.
