Bill Castilla
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching A groundball pitcher, Castilla needs to have sharp command to succeed. If you're going in to face Castilla, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. Steals sometimes unnerve Castilla, who isn't blessed with extraordinary self-confidence. But Castilla, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Castilla is nothing special in the field. He doesn't have much of a pickoff move and he's slow getting the ball to home plate out of the set position. Castilla is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Castilla has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Castilla as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Castilla.
