Charlie Bolin
Starting Pitcher | Chicago Windbags
Pitching He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. Bolin can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Bolin also has a decent changeup. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success. It's hard to explain but Charlie Bolin plays much better on the road then he does at home.
Defense & Hitting Bolin has lots of energy. He comes off the mound like a cat and doesn't make many errors. Bolin does an average job of holding runners. Bolin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Bolin has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Chicago Windbags have been known to use Bolin as a pinch-runner on occasion.
