Manolito Alejandro
Relief Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching He has the ability to coax groundballs, which helps him succeed. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Alejandro, and that's saying a lot. Alejandro has no endurance. He's good for an inning an outing, tops. But Alejandro, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He's trying to develop a sinker, but as of yet it's been well below par. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting Alejandro does a very poor job of holding baserunners because of his deliberate move to home plate. Alejandro comes off the mound hard toward the third base side on his delivery, making it difficult for him to field balls to the right side or to cover first base on a close play. Alejandro is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Alejandro has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Free Agents have been known to use Alejandro as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2014 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Alejandro.
