The Universal Baseball League crowned just their 4th different Champion in their 7th season, as the London Clash outlasted the Norfolk Dreadnoughts 4 games to 3. The EHL claimed their 6th title, and even more bragging rights over the WHL.  London lost just twice before meeting the 'Noughts in the Cup Finals, and had a 3-0 lead before the team out of Virginia made them sweat.  With the Akers built dynasties in rebuilding mode, London has positioned themselves as the next superpower in the East.

               London was stuck in a see-saw battle with Paris for the entire season, as they traded the top spot between themselves numerous times.  London slowed some just at the end of the campaign, allowing Paris a 3 game advantage heading into the first round, where the two teams faced off one more time. But the well-earned home field advantage for Paris meant little, as London lost the first, then won 3 straight, including the last two in France to advance. Edinburgh, Barcelona and Dublin stuck close to the front runners for a few months, before fading away in the late summer heat.
               While the Warsaw Fighting Wombats again buried their competition in the East, taking the division by 17 games over second place Vienna, the Central race was neck-and-neck between Morocco and Rome. Rome did everything they could with their 'rebuilding' team, taking it down to a final series against Morocco in the end of September.  The Mayhem turned out to be the better squad this season, taking that series and thereby winning the division.  Morocco continued their cinderella season, beating Warsaw in the first round of the playoffs, 3 games to 1, before running into the Clash buzzsaw.
               In the Western Hemisphere, Detroit surprised most by ending up with the best record in the league.  While the normally contending Atlanta squad collapsed, Chicago provided some competition for the Bears, before dropping back 5 games over the last 10 of the season to end up 6 out. Chicago would get another chance though, having beaten out North Shore for the Wild Card, to face Detroit, much as London did in the EHL. Detroit dropped the first two games in Chicago, but staved off elimination for 3 straight games at home to move on to face Norfolk in the Hemispheric Championship Series.
               Norfolk coasted through much of the season, sprinting out to a big lead over their division foes, and sat with the best record in the league for much of the summer.  The club faded heading into August, though, letting Miami back into the race, and jeopardizing a great season.  They were able to hang on, and beat Caracas and Detroit, who both finished over 5 games ahead of Norfolk in the standings, en route to the terrific Cup Finals.
               In the WHL West, it was a three team race once again for a good portion of the summer, as Caracas, North Shore and Seattle went at each other for 6 long months. As late as August 23, the three teams were separated by just 4 games, as had been the case all season long.  A 2-8 stretch by Seattle, along with some key injuries, effectively ended their chance to stick with the other two clubs.  As both Caracas and North Shore also had key injuries, only the Cougars were able to keep winning, sending them into the playoffs, where they lost in the first round to Norfolk.
